It’s two month’s time from now. You’ve just arrived at your road trip destination, Grow Your Own fest in the idyllic seaside town of Forster-Tuncurry, the best place to be this January 12 to eat all the delicious local foods, drink all the dranks and dance under the summer sun to your favourite bands!

At Grow Your Own 2019, the stellar line up of handpicked Aussie music legends is just the beginning of the most nourishing, community minded event of the summer.

An easy road trip from the city and with an ethos that supports sustainability, Grow Your Own is set to satisfy, serving up a celebration of the epic food producers that make the Mid North Coast of NSW so special.

TASTE

Get ready to sink your teeth into a whole lot of wholesome with the festival’s designated ‘Grower’s Area’, a space dedicated to showcasing the best producers and farmers in the region whilst ensuring punters are satisfied by all locally-sourced and sustainably produced deliciousness.

Start the the day by delving into some freshly baked goods with a bread and cheese tasting plate from the local legends at Palms Micro Bakery. Delectable delicacies from Forster food stall Dr Drool will leave you salivating as they draw together 100 per cent local suppliers for their menu. Need something to wash down all that deliciousness? Go the ‘Growers Bar’ for Bottled Culture’s locally produced Kombucha and Old Inn Road’s boutique wines. And if you have a sweet tooth, hook into dessert with a 100% plant based soft serve from the locals at Summer Cup Co. Yum!

WORKSHOPS

Keen to start growing some of your own food? Grow Your Own will feature a rotating list of young producers keen to share their craft. And make sure you check out the onsite permaculture garden and bee hives.

Learn how to start with a garden with a simple pot plant or rejuvenate your green thumb as you watch Manning Valley gardener Chelsea Hands plant and cultivate a garden at the festival. Fall in love with the insects that make the world go round as you learn about the planet’s most important pollinator with Amber Drop and their rescue bees.

Discover how Rachel Altenbacher lived a month eating entirely her own homegrown food and make delicious sourdough with Lydia Irving from Internal Instinct.

Meet the farmers behind the organic Yeo Farm, who strive to bring healthy and humanely raised sheep to market or visit the folks behind Long Table Farm who practise regenerative, ethical and sustainable methods in raising their pork, beef and lamb.

CINEMA

When you’re all tuckered out, take a break and soak in the stories behind the food with Grow Your Own’s pop up cinema, featuring stories of the Growers and how they came to be as well as sustainability and surf films.

Be inspired by locally produced film ‘Teach A Man to Fish’ (Sydney Film Festival/Byron International Film Festival) based on historic, Indigenous family the Saunders as well as other films showcasing the tales of the event’s many different Growers, their passion for their craft and how their produce makes its way to our plates.
